Chantrelles are popping up like crazy on south facing slopes under mature oak trees. Thin coat of olive oil, greek seasoning, bake 40 minutes. Nice chewy consistency, nut flavor. 20 minutes into 40 minute cooking time. Cook till edges are browned: Don't find this one often, Blue milk cap. edible but no contest to chanterelles. Flash and no flash

Mmmmmmm We get those, too, or something that looks like it. Didn't know what they were or if they were edible.

Some years back I was working an oil refinery. A fellow on the crew was a classmate of my brother, I was rooming at my brother's home. He asked if Mark had married his high school sweetheart. I relayed the question, only to be told he had been married 3 times and they all died. I was stricken with remorse, and he offered the first had died of eating poison mushrooms. I was trying to remember a poisoning death in the nearby community, when he offered the other two died of brain injuries. He then said, "Yup, they wouldn't eat the mushrooms." Turned and walked away, displaying a large frame chuckling.
Of course I had heard the story before, the delivery was masterful.

I love mushrooms and Fungi. Many hiking trails in the Catskills, NY few days after the rain, yielded the neatest pictures. Thought I was the only 1 that took photos of these. After a few minutes of looking at each one, my hubby had to start dragging me along until I came across something new.
