Greetings gang, My IntroGoing through some of Grandpas rocks here are some pix I call these "worm rocks" Grandpa liked these I think, has more somewhere A Box of rocks, I separated slabs from partial slabs (a slab cut off), from others. In my intro, a recent trip I got a bunch of rocks I suspect this is petrified wood and holding in my hand, it's rather heavy too Natures way of making a sphere Suspiciously looks like petrified wood? Obsidian in slabs and whatnot This is a nice rock with a shell in it! Different angle This is just some of the stuff I got from my Uncle that was Grandpas Thanks for looking Aaron

Aaron, You are mostly on base with your id's. The rock with the shell included would probably be called Devil's toenails because of the curved patterns left when shells are cut transversely. Your first photos may be of feldspar inclusions in ?? Sort of like Chinese writing stone?? Your guesses of pet wood seem to be reasonable. Welcome, and now its your duty to add to Grandpa's collection.

Thanks!
I totally plan and have my own collection. Mostly tumbling material as years ago I got a little 3lb'er (if that) tumbler from guess.... I added a dual tumbler from Harbor Freight for rocks and wet tumbling my brass for reloading.
I just wanted to show off what I got from my Uncle, and my mom too.
I have a great fossil to photograph. Not sure how to preserve it or mount it in something to keep it safe. I'll photo later and put in the fossil section.
