The stars must be alined properly or something. Yesterday I found my saphire and diamond bracelet that had been missing for 2 months under a display at work. And today the family went jem grubbing and really got a good haul of agate and sodalite. As we were leaving my husband loked down and found (on the ground) a rough saphire as big as my thumb. We got to kicking around and ended up finding 2 emerals (one good sized and one smaller good quality) and several more rubies and saphires. Things people threw out cause they didn't know what they had, though that big emerald should have been hard to miss. We were afraid they were gonna kick us out so we finaly quit. I guess today was a good day to go to polish with my agates ;D

Good catch shorty , the stars were aligned alright , I came home with a bag of rocks for 50 cents raffle ticket at the rockclub. It was my first visit there. I will put the pics on the pics pages.

Congratulations Shorty!
It's funny where you find equipment. I found a flat lap being used as a potted plant base once. I asked the lady why she was using it as a holder for a potted plant instead of its intended use ... she did not know what it was. She found it in a shed and she was not aware of where it came from or who put it in her shed?
I asked her if she wanted to sell it, and she said "No". She liked the blue color of the (unknown machice) holder and the way it displayed her flowers.
Goofy things happen!
Enjoy,
John

Nice finds everyone... I just have one quick question... Cookie, you mentioned your family going gem grubbin'... was wondering where exactly they did that??? I'm looking for places to go to "rockhunt" so to speak, and am not having much luck in my area.. was wondering if it was somewhere possibly close to me...
Thanks...

Malkavic, Gem grubbin is realy kind of cheesey, my step daughter gets a kick out of it. There are gem mines and gold in this area of north GA and they take their castoffs and scraps and sell them to "Gem Grubbin'" dealers. They just load up buckets with scrap and sand or rocks, you buy them for 8-30 dollars, depending on size and content and you go to a trough of water and a sieve and see what you have. We wnt to a new place and I waved my hands over the buckets (picking up their energy you know, Marlena was behind me telling everyone "She's crazy!") and I told her, pick one of these 2. The one she picked turned out to be a doozy. For the first time we actualy paid aout what the stones and gems are worth. She's turning into a great little rock hound, too. Really knows what to look for.

I know around some of the mines in Colorado you can go gem hunting in some of their streams. I think you can get rubies and emeralds. I thinks those places are around Colorado Springs, you do have to pay to be able to pan for the gems. Tami
