Hello BE,
I think we are starting to get your weather in southwestern kansas. We have got over 9 inches of rain in the past three days and yesterday it was not raining at all.
We got another 2" this afternoon in a matter of an hour or so. I have a good friend that works for the LEC (Law Enforcement Center) and he called this afternoon and told me that there was a tornado just two miles east of our home and that I should consider taking cover. I looked out the window and it could have been a hundred yards away and I wouldn't have been able to see it! The rain and the hail was coming down that bad.
Our garden (totally ruined) looks like chololate pudding with spinach greens in it! It's a shame what 4 months of hard work and labor gets, when it is pulverized within a matter of an hour.
It's funny ... when it's dry we are begging for rain and when it's raining we are complaining that it's too wet and we wished that the rain would go away. I am guilty! Just remember the ol' saying "Be careful what you wish for ... you just might get it".
We were needing moisture, but this is a little on the extreme!
Be careful and try to keep dry!
John

Hi All, Kim, please don't change your channel! 36 hours so far and NO RAIN! I'm so happy! We've had sunshine most of today. It's great, and the river is now starting to get to a level where it's just starting to behave itself. Maybe by this weekend, I will be able to rent some tubes for the river and make a few bucks. The sunshine today made me feel so good that I even ordered some more tubes today that will be delivered tomorrow.
Jack, the ranch that I worked on yesterday is a working horse ranch owned by a couple who are entertainers. They also grow (and sell) several hundred acres of hay. However, I don't work with their horses or with their hay operation. I'm the 'Domestic Goddess' on the place! In other words, I'm just the housekeeper.
John, I'm so sorry about the horrible weather that you're having, and about your garden being pummeled by hail. That's so disheartening! Did you suffer other hail damage besides the garden? And do you have a storm shelter in case of tornadoes? Tornadoes are very weird, very scary 'animals'!
Take care all, and be sure to enjoy the sunshine if you've got it!

Hello, All - I wonder - if we've had such a rainy summer, do y'all think the coming winter will be really bad? Is it time for el nino or el nina or whatever? Global warming? Or maybe it's going to be like that movie about a global disaster (I can't remember the name) and we are all doomed. Or, we could just be having an unusally rainy summer Let's all just pray for no electricity outages to ruin our batches! ;D

Yo, Princess, I vote for an unusualy rainy summer. That happened here last year and everyone thought we'd have a snowy winter, but it was less than usual Go figure. cookie
