My roommate thinks all stone to be Jade (jadeite/nephrite). I am a bit more realistic, however, if I bring home the first piece of real Jade he would just die. Hehehe Ok this stuff is hard. Diamond won't cut it. It has kind of a waxy feel. I tried the specific gravity but my scale could be off. I got 2.62 I found it on the beach here in northern California. The photos are true to color

Not jade, has conchoidal fractures, which you will not find on jade. Could be jasper.

gemcrusty I'm no Jade expert, but it looks like some of the green jasper I collected in No. Calif. Lynn

That is a beautiful specimen of Flint. Looks like someone has already taken a few whacks on it. Text book Conchoidal fractures.
