Very nice job, Jack. Brilliant shine too. Those look like they spent some serious time in your tumblers. Give us the run down, on what steps you used to get such splendid results. Are those all local stones? Keep it up Jack those are terrific!

Thanks for your kind replies and your HUGE interest, Drives me to do more and more and more .......and so on hahaha Yes the stones are local stones, 89 km by pick-up truck and 87.89km by car, It is a very nice ride to that Orepuki beach . Garnets stand out on the beach , look up and say..PICK ME ...PICK ME !!! They are a semiprecious stone and indeed do stand out. They have a sort of soapy feel to them and after polishing they are much more slppery in your hand , slide out easy and drop to the table or floor , whichever comes first. ;D Run down.....nog good running down the beach , you will miss them all and others pick um before you do tumble run down :" 1 week 60/90 grit 1 week 220 grit+ pellets 1 week 600 grit +more pellets 1 week cerium oxide polish + lots of pellets If not happy with result, 4 days soap ( grated sunlight soap ) like this batch had. I know that some people still get higher gloss than I do , may well be with other oxide, dunno. At the moment I am waiting for a delivery of 60/90 grit, was promised to be here today. I should go down to the road , they may drop it off at the gate, 220 yards away. enjoy Jack

The pinkish ones are my favourites (last photo) though the grey ones that resemble hematite are right up there for me too.
Which are the garnets? The garnets I'm familiar with finding are very small, crystalline, and very red to purple in colour.

Great lookin' batch of rocks, Jack! Beautiful shine! I guess they took so little time in 60/90 because they were already "tumbled" by Mother Nature.

The mudstones stand out too when walking over the beach . Sometimes I wonder wethere I could put the smoothest stones straight into 220 grit? These are a differnt form of garnet...Hydrogrossular garnets, Here comes a nice green one my wife found. enjoy Jack and on another background, same garnet
