Hello everyone, Well, I am not the smartest rock in the shop! I have tried to get some photos up on the board ... but I am having a hard time getting the *!@$%##@ things to load . I did get some photos transfered to photobucket.com and if you would like to see some of my creations, check it out. Go to www.photobucket.com and put BearCreekLapidary in the "Go to Album" box. You will be able to see what I have been working on . Enjoy, John

Hi,
Yes, I do sell them at local craft shows and area events. I have made a bunch up to take to an upcoming Bluegress Festival that I am going to in mid-July in Colby, Kansas.
There are four different styles:
Jim Dunlop Style: Stubby Jazz I Jim Dunlop Style: Stubby Jazz II Peavey Style Fender Style
They range in thicknesss from 1mm to 2.75mm, depending on what kind of stringed instrument is being played and how it is being played will determine on which thickness is best.
Each one requires between three and four hours of work, from start to finish. The final result is well worth the effort. I have given some of these to various players in different kinds of bands; Jazz, Country and Mexican ... and they all seem to like them very well.
Prices range from 25.00 for the Stubbie styles, 35.00 for the Peavey styles and 45.00 for the Fender styles.
Enjoy,
John

John, those are absolutely beautiful! The backlighting really brings out the color and natural beauty of the stone. I have a few friends that pick and sing. I would love to make them a guitar pick - to remember me by when I croak! ;D, but might croak before I learn how to make one! Do you start with a slab cut the correct thickness in the basic guitar pick shape, grind them to the proper shape, then polish them? llana

Those are really cool John. How long do they last? I bet a pick guard is a 'must' when using one of those. Do you have a template you use to cut those out? I must say they are beautiful. I play guitar, but I don't know how I would use one of those since I use a .75 as it is. But I know some bass players that would love something like that. Great pieces of artistry John. -Banjo

Hi everyone, Thanks for the many compliments. I must apologize for the size of the photo's. I am able to downsize them in my HP Photoworks program, but I don't seem to be able to downsize them straight from my photo files directly to the photobucket. I'll get it figured out sooner or later . Enjoy, John

Those two are my favorites too cookie. Now if only I'd learned to actually play guitar instead of mooning over the cute red-headed boy who'd wait for his lesson after mine. Seriously, Bearcreek, an amazing job. How long does a pick take to make? I've showed your picks to many many folks and they are all, without exception, blown away.
