Great stuff! Love the purple opal, too. That obsidian or whatever it is has a great pattern and colors, too.

Love the obsidian?, that is really neat. Did you find more than just the one? I hope so!
My favorite is certainly the orange chalcedony. Looks like a popsicle!

Love all of it. Particularly the purple. Purple stuff was everywhere up there. Got some nice purple jasper running from a lavender to a dark purple, purple opal, there was purple breccia, etc.

Hey James opal knapps!!# I wanna go with you to get some if it's not a long walk. One legged cowboy here ya know! LOL Actually very little walking in this area. I walked around and located stuff. Smaller amounts I carried back in bags. And when I found the mine with the pink and blue chalcedony I just made a pile then had to drive off road to get up to it. Luckily I just got a new 4WD truck, which is the other reason I was in Reno. Needed the 4WD to make it up to the mine.

I wish I would have found more of the obsidian. That was one of my favorites. I looked around that area quite a while looking for more. But that was found in a rock discard pile from a mining operation. So no telling the exact location where they dug it out. And I did not see any more anywhere in the rock pile. Yes, the orange chalcedony on the right in particular looks like a Creamcicle with all the off white in in on the other side. That is what I was telling my friend from the gem club who bought it from me.

Found it in a rock discard pile for a mining operation. Did not see any on the surface walking around in the area. I am 6' 2" so small hands would look pretty funky on me. The white is common opal. That is the one on the left. The one to the right of it is actually a light gray common opal and the other one a light salmon colored common opal. The sunlight is bleaching out the colors on the last two in the photo. The light salmon colored one is a really beautiful piece. I would like to make something from it someday.
