Hello everyone, I have been cutting a few stones for this weeks coming show and a few of you have given me the nickname "Bear", so it was really funny when I was cutting this piece of Plume Agate from Oregon and what looks like a grizzly bear standing on a rock ledge suddenly took form. I thought it looked interesting enough to post in hopes that you would enjoy the stone! When this stone is turned just right, the plume formation resembles a full set of legs on the supposed bear - very interesting indeed! Anyway, I hope you enjoy the photo's! John

That really does look like a bear!! Cool. Ya know, maybe you should keep that one. There's the logo for your business! You could put it on business cards and letterhead and whatnot. When people come into the shop you could have that on display so they could see the "real" grizzly bear on a ledge. Yeah definitely a keeper!

Otters on to something. That would make a great logo for you. Once again... The gods have smiled on one of our own. (Because we love the earth, me thinks ) cookie

I'm very impressed in the workmanship of your art. I too want to do some great pieces. I need alot more practice and lately with the heat and mosiquitos I dont' get in the barn as much. Thanks for sharing your pictures. Brett

John, that piece is really incredible! I have to agree that it would be a great logo for you! Most definitely a keeper, although you could probably sell it for a small fortune.

WOW! Thats too cool. I agree, there's your logo. Take a really good macro fhoto of it and have it enlarged to like 16X20 and have it on display in your shop. Just think, that logo has been sitting in that rock for a long time waiting for you to start your business. It's a sign man.

I agree Bear! It's perfect! What a beautiful image, he looks like he just woke up, hair kinda frizzled, getting a good view from his ledge and making plans for another day of being the king of his world. Sweet! I am an image nut, see them all the time. Some easy to see like your bear, some a little wacked. Here is a pic of a couple of my favorites I came across while knapping arrowheads. Both of these are 'Mook' jasper. The alein on the left and the fire breathing demon on the right. Cheers Don

On the first picture if you turn it to where the plum is up it looks like a vicious storm cloud.

;D yep, Alice Cooper/ fire breathing demon, pretty much the same thing Kim. The piece looked better in person, cheeks are puffed and the eye is evil.
