This is some of the beach rock I got from John Sands, I've been using it as fill. It has finally made it to the stage where I might as well polish it. I was using it with some Butter Jade I got from WilliamC, and it does'nt look like the butter jade is going to take a polish. Anybody else get any of this? It's a beautiful rock, and I will post pics, but, shine, it will not. So here's my consolation shine ;D

I think you did a fine job on those rocks banjoman!!!! That type of material is NOT easy to polish as it's made up of rocks of a different hardness. The beach rocks I polished from Japan were the same type of material and it took me forever to figure out how to get a "so so" shine to them!!! Thanks,,, Tom

Hey Banjo. Nice job on the beach rock. Looks like quartz-is it? In my previous batches, the quartz was the only thing that was easy to get to shine. Your pics remind me of digging in the yard and coming across a bunch of snail eggs. Yuck! (But the stones are much prettier) Looks like you've got alot of facetting practice material.

Banjo, those are really pretty! Great shine and shape! Those would be wonderful for an aquarium and or plant decoration!
Good job - as always!

PS Do you have anymore of that green adventurine? I love that stuff. Don't have any out of polisch yet, but will in a few days. It looks great after the 1000 grit and I can't wait to see it finished. If you have more, I would love to buy some! Had I known it was gonna be so pretty, I would have bought 10 lbs!

Yes, I still have some of that "Green Quartz". I think it shapes up beautifully. Let me know what you want and I'll pick though the pile. That was one of the first stones, and one of the easiest I've done. I love it cause you can cut it and it hangs together pretty good. I threw a 'cross' that I cut out in the tumbler, and figured it would bust up, but, nope it came out, arms and all, intact

Nice cross! Did you cut it with a saw or dremel? I cut one out of a slab freehanded and I was so pleased with it. If you ever saw my freehanded drawing you would understand why I was so happy. LOL! Put it in the tumbler with some other slabs and lots of pellets. It went through 60/90, 120/220, and prepolish with no problem. Then broke during the wash cycle. I was so disappointed. Next time I guess I need to use a thicker slab and use the vibe instead of the rotary.
I would like another 3 or 4 pounds of that green adventurine. I sure don't need any, I still have one chunk of it out of the first batch I got, but I just really like it! When you have time, just pick me out some. You can ship it the slowest and cheapest way. No hurry. Let me know what I owe ya' and I'll get it in the mail.

Sure thing llanago. I'll get gertrude the mule saddled up in the morning, you should have it by this fall. I'll go through and pick some out for you before it's all gone, and I'll keep in touch. I may have to take another hike out in the desert to re-supply myself with this stuff. That cross was cut on a tile saw out of just a nice looking chunk. I don't have a slab saw. Sandsman cut me some slabs though and I'll probably use those to cut some more. I just cut a few when I'm bored and throw them in the next 60/90 batch than comes along. The sad thing about that cross, is that after I snapped the picture, it slid off the packground and busted on the cement floor "Just keep swimming, Keep on swimming, Just keep swimming, Swim swim swimming". ;D

I'll keep my eye out for you and Gertrude come about October. Ya'll just take it easy and be careful along those highways. You ain't no young whippersnapper anymore, ya' know. And, don't load ole Gert down too much 'cause ya' don't want to wear her out or she might not be able to make the next trip to the hills for some rock huntin'! ;D
That is such a shame about the cross breaking!
