Somebody, Cookie (??), wanted to see some pics of my parrot wing after it was broken up. These spent a week in 60/90 and 3 days in 100 in the vibe. They went back in 60/90 today for additional shaping. This stuff is really pretty. I can't wait to see it finished! llana

Oh, yeah. That IS going to be some pretty stuff. Good luck with it! I think you were wise to drop back before you got too far forward too. Good thinking.

I can't wait to see this finished. It is going to be georgeous. I have aluminum oxide, a generic polish from Alamo Rock Shop, tin oxide and the polish I got with my vibe. Don't know which of those will really put the shine on them, but will try them all and order some other kind if I have to! LOL!
KD, I got it at Alamo Rock Shop. I have another pound or so that I haven't broken/cut up yet.
Banjo, I started these in the rotary, but apparently had the barrel overloaded because they didn't shape much and after 8 days rolling, there was lots of good grit on the bottom of the barrel. So, tossed 'em in the vibe and now they are back where they started. LOL!

I WILL make vibe believers of you all! Even in coarse, it really does go faster. Llanna, that's going to be some beautiful stuff, and with your creative mind, no telling what wonderful thing you;ll do with it cookie

Cookie, I have another couple pounds of this that is still sitting in the sack from the rock shop. I am thinking I am going to slab it, then do some trimming and grindiing with the little 4" trim saw BE and I got off eBay. Am thinking of a neckless with matching earrings - but gonna have to learn how to do it first! llana

Hey Llana , those rocks look very promising , not the type I find on beaches I'm sure. I hope you keep us informed of the progress.
Thanks for showing Jack

Cookie, here is what I have discovered with my Vibe.
When in the pre-polish (500, 700, 1200 and tripoli), I can go for 24 hrs. with no dehydration and the rocks getting stuck in the yuck on the bottom of the bowl.
In the coarse and medium stage, after about 12 hrs. the rocks are dehydrated and the yuck on the bottom is starting to build. So, if I have rocks in coarse/medium in the vibe, I start them either in the evening or morning around 7 or 8. Then I am always home when it's time to clean the bowl and rocks and recharge.
With the Vibe, I don't keep track in days, I keep track in hours! LOL!
I have a batch in coarse now that will come out tonight and go into the rotary. And I have a batch out of coarse in the rotary I am moving to the vibe for the medium, prepolish and polish. They should be finished by the time my parrot wing and rose quartz are ready to come out of the rotary and go into medium in the vibe.
Then I gotta get over to BE's and get some more rock cut to fill my barrels. Can't have them just sitting idle!

an idle barrel is the devil's plaything...no, wait....my plaything.....never have an idle barrel and you won't become anothers plaything? you won't become a plaything for the devil? whatever.
empty barrels will never roll stones?
no moss can grow on a tumbling barrel....let no moss grow.
a tumbling barrel is a happy barrel. owners of happy barrels are happy people. (we don't need no stinking Zoloft).
go forth and tumble and verily, your barrels will never be empty.
(somebody STOP me), hahaha, KD

You definitely picked an appropriate handle KD! You are krazy as a bedbug! LOL!
Actually, I have FOUR barrels idle until I can get these two new/old 33B's fixed. Just haven't had time lately to take them completely apart, clean, degrease, put them back together, oil them up and see if they work better. Have one making a horrendous noise and one with a wobbly barrel. When I get them fixed, I for sure am gonna have to get busy cutting rocks to go in them!

Llana, That's how I do the vibe, I check every morning and evening and redo the whole thing each time. Sometimes I get a little heavy handed with the water to make sure they don't get too dry and stop rolling. Might as well turn the thing off if they get stuck! 220 is definately the best starting point, but I'm out and waiting on an order (it got sent back "undeliverable" for some reason) so I leave some slurry in the bottom and keep adding 80 (helps it stick). Tonight, I dremel off the cracks. Tired of looking at them. The bits are 80 grit so it puts 'em back at the same place, and maybe I can move this cracking adventurine and rose quartz forward cookie

KD, that's why I keep adding 80, I CAN'T just let them SIT there ;D
