Just received the below. Does not surprise me. I sold a few things there, but internet presence was minimal. There were no ads from outside businesses, a free store option and reasonable costs for upgraded stores. Kind of sad in a way.
Dear Scott’s Marketplace User,
It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that Scott’s Marketplace is closed and will no longer be providing service.
Scott’s Marketplace was created for people, and by people, who believed in the power and importance of small local business. It is to you, our users, that we first and foremost thank you for your support of our purpose. It has been our honor to serve you.
To our Shoppers, our mission has been to change the mindset of what it means to shop local by enabling consumers to connect with small business owners not only in their hometowns, but across the United States, in a fun, interactive marketplace. As you know, shopping and supporting small local businesses is much more than purchasing the products they sell. We sincerely thank you for your support to the cause and we hope your shopping experience on Scott’s Marketplace was one of enjoyment.
If you’ve placed an order that you have not yet received, we encourage you to reach out to the seller. If you created a shopping account, for a limited time you will have access to your shopper dashboard where you can select the store’s name from the purchase order and be directed to their store information page. From the store information page, select “Contact”, and complete the contact form.
To our Sellers, our mission has been to level the playing field between small local and big box retailers by providing an innovative and empowering platform tailored to the needs of small local businesses. We hope you agree that during our existence, we pursued this mission by providing you with tools and support to create, manage, and promote your online store. Many of you have enjoyed success and gained valuable knowledge.
Until Monday, September 17, 2018, you will continue to have access to your seller dashboard. Per the Seller Agreement, you must fulfill any remaining orders in a timely manner, and you must pay any and all outstanding fees.
Although our relationship is ending, we wish you success in your future endeavors. To assist in getting you integrated into a new ecommerce platform, we’ve made it possible for you to take all of your product listings with you. To export the information simply log into your seller dashboard and download a csv file.
Along with the closing of the marketplace, we are shutting down our informative blogs dedicated respectively to our store owners called the DRIVE and to our consumers called the Local Lifestyle. We hope you derived value from these blogs.
Lastly, we will no longer be servicing SHIFT10, an initiative we founded to encourage everyone to shift 10% of their spending away from big box retailers and instead spend that 10% on small local businesses. We hope that even without us promoting and collecting pledges, you will still join us as we continue to shift more and more or our own personal spending to small local businesses.
We existed to serve you, our users. Although our journey as a company is ending, we hope the passion for supporting small local business will continue to live on in the community we helped to build.
Sincerely,
The Scott's Marketplace Team
