Enlisted the help of my daughter to build some portable display boards. The center portion is 2’ wide and the sides are 1’ wide. Height is 2’. I had been working on a design that was portable and lightweight for some time. She modified the design. Further modifications were made when we went to purchase materials. Who knew that 1 x 4’s cost less than half of 2” furring strips. The furring strips were pretty banged up, so it made out decision easier. In the areas with the 1 x 4’s I will use dowel pins. Drill some holes so they will fit through the peg board and into the 1 x 4’s. They will need to be pounded into the boards for each use, then removed for transport, but it should work for displaying lighter items. I still need to paint the boards, attach the handles and apply some metallic duct tape around the edges for trim. Some of the 1 x 4’s were a little long, so eventually will cut them down to flush. We were able to build 4 units yesterday. They weigh less than 10 lbs. each. Total cost for materials was under $70.00. This includes purchasing the peg board hooks, Yes, the hinges are a little much, but daughter found them on clearance. Shown open. For display the sides will be swung out more. open Closed closed Latch latch

I still have my much larger, fancier display board, but can no longer lift it.

I'm in the process of doing something similar with framed artist canvas. Mine will be 16" high, though.
