I was recently given an amazing Opal cab I would love to show photos of. Cannot get any photos with my Iphone that show all of the flash. Tried a variety of backgrounds, natural light, natural light with led lights, with and without flash in and out of a light tent. How can I photograph this? It is a traditional, white Opal with blue, green, red and yellow flash. Thank you

Unless the fire is extremely bright, white opal is the worst when taking photographs. Even then it's difficult because the white base itself reflects so much light. MsAli 's suggestion to shoot outdoors is a good one, especially if you can do so in the first hour or so after sunrise or the last hour before sunset. The light will be more redder and that will help the fire to stand out. If there happens to be snow on the ground in Amherst Junction that would tend to wash out the fire — like having a really huge white opal base all around you.

Unless it is full frontal flash you will never get the color to show all at once when trying to take pictures. A lot of people photograph opals in a black container filled with water. Make sure the opal is under water. This seems to help the color show. If the stone is directional, you will have to take pictures after turning the opal to get the other flash to show.
The other option is to take a video of it while you turn it slowly to show the flash.

Thanks for the replies. No snow here yet. Will try outside tomorrow early AM. My phone does not like to focus unless the flash is on. Otherwise I need to do manual focus by moving the phone up/down and guessing. Might try the video for my own use, but cannot post videos here. Might try to do some photoshopping on what I have to see if I can adjust enough to get true colors. This is such a beautiful cab, I would love to share. Comparable to some 10% of size that I have in settings.
