Hello all, long time lurker here.
I've come across a large cache of Alaskan jade at an estate that I'm considering buying. Its been through several hands since its original owner, and I'd like to have somebody knowledgeable about jade take a look at it before I empty my piggy bank. Based on pictures I can find online it seems to be the real deal, but I'd like to have somebody confirm that and give me their take on its quality/value/saleability. I've got limited samples to send right now, but I'll offer the biggest/nicest chunk I can fit in a medium FRB as payment if the deal goes through, and I'll do my best to get my hands on a chunk even if it doesn't.
Cheers,
Julian

I don't have a ton of samples, but here's a little slab I cut.

Awesome, I appreciate it! Some of the collection is pretty spectacular, I'll post pics after the sale is settled. In the meantime, some eye candy. A chunk of jadiete from the same estate. Unfortunately it was the only one. I could retire in Abu Dhabi on a couple pallets of this stuff.

TBH it could be chrysoprase, I'm going purely off provenance and the fact that it feels a bit heavier than chalcedony when I call it jade. In a way I hope it is chrysoprase, I would love to cut it but I don't think that would be a wise economic descision if its jade.

based on the fractures looking conchoidal I would also suspect chrysoprase.

That apple green piece is definitely agate. So chrysoprase is a good idea. Could be chrome too.

Yep, that second pic is chrysoprase. Exterior and fracture is not jade like at all. The jade pic does look like nephrite, complete with inclusions, but actually looks more like Washington or Porterville,CA material than Alaskan. Whatever the source, that is not high quality color which is best if apple green and solid and if those dark inclusions are magnetite which is common in jade, they may undercut as often they are softer than the nephrite. Washington jade from the Darrington region often shows those olive tones. Hard nephrite but the lack of good color makes it less valuable....Mel
