I've seen a few threads that mention green banded rhyolite off Plomosa Rd near Bouse AZ. Anyone have directions or coordinates for collecting it?
I'm also going to be looking for banded barite off the same road. I figured I'd start with the directions in the Bearce book, but MRDS shows old barite workings all over. Anyone have any advice for finding the best material?
Appreciate any help

Plomosa road is easy. Drive up Plomosa road like you are going to Bouse. Stop in Quinn Pass, get out and walk over to the historical info sign. Read it. Look at the high hill behind. All of that hill is rhyolite. Brite is slightly more challenging. Continue toward Bouse and after road levels turn left into the desert. Wander around and you will find big long wide trenches dug into the hillsides. That's you. I have never found any pieces big enough to do anything with. Good luck and be careful in the desert!

Thanks Orrum! You happen to know of birds eye rhyolite in the area? I saw some pics of that too, looked like it was worth looking for

The birds eye is across from the Stone Cabin on 95 south of Q. Almost all of it is too soft and is of the brown type. You have to just keep scratching around discarding the brown while you search for the reddish. Don't cross the fence because it's against the rules to collect over there. That's the Kofa.
