This was a tough post for choosing the right board as it could easily go in the section about fun and not-necessarily-rock related topics...but it is about rocks in some ways (besides the title)
I almost never watch the TV, other than a movie here and there, but while engaged in several projects at once this past weekend (rock related, of course) I turned on Netflix for some background noise and queued up a new show documentary type show titled "One Strange Rock", produced by National Geographic and hosted by Will Smith. It was captivating, and surprisingly it illustrated many of things that connected me to this new hobby. For me at least, it's about more than just the rocks. Particularly when cabbing, it's almost meditative and outside of the short, cold and wet winter days the rockhounding is secondary to spending as much time out in the wild as possible.
One of the coolest things was all the footage from the international space station - so much of that footage is just like looking at slabs...it's crazy! While we're all different, it's clear that most folks on this forum share some kind of brain wiring that feeds the interest/obsession and since I enjoyed the show and the link I discovered it had with my rock obsession, I thought I'd share and suggest checking it out.
If you've already watched this, or end up watching it, would love to hear what others think.
Now to see if I can find somewhere to download the ISS high-res footage...

It's a great series!
"A living breathing, working, planet"
If that doesnt affect you in some way and make you think about living in harmony with it, I dont know what will
I recommend watching it.
