I was talking in a PM to ADAVE today and the subject came up about John. I haven't been on real often lately been working on some other stuff. I am Just Sick to hear this, and it feels like someone just beat the shit out of me! When John started posting we hit it off right away. He sent me a PM back in October I guess I was using the Term ARSE and he caught onto it, my family has used that term longer than I can remember anyway John figured I was English and I just had My DNA done through Ancestry DNA and I am Welsh and English see the PM Below Another thing we have in common is our HVAC back ground with Carrier, I am a Licensed HVAC contractor for 37 years of my 42Years in the Buisness, and John was in the HVAC Service buisness also overseas and I was a Carrier dealer and John had quite a bit of experience with Carrier. Needless to say I am SICK to hear about this not only have I lost a fellow Rock Bud but a Brother of the HVAC trade and as John says a Kindred Spirit! Thank you Susan for sharing the picture of John. I will be taking it to get a Print made and Hanging in my Shop so I can now have a Picture of my friend watching over me while I am rockin. RIP my brother.

susanwaringI echo the sentiments of others here. Your father was an amazing person, a great writer and someone I would have loved to meet in person. His ability to see images in stones was beyond belief at times. Someone I considered a friend. Am glad you stopped by RTH. Deep condolences to his loved ones.

susanwaring, Your father and I hit it off the moment he came aboard RTH. He had that talent. I worried about what would happen to his collections. I feared he was totally alone and all would be devoured by a careless bureaucracy. Thanks for letting us know you are here! Dave

Hi Dave, Today marks one year my father has been gone . I found myself reading his posts . All I know is not long after he died his wife put their home on the market and it sold very quickly . I have had no contact with her and I expect perhaps she sold up and went back to live in her country . The zoo most likely was sold as I can’t see her being as enthusiastic as my father was about stones and what he saw in them hence his pastry shop . I hope they all found a great home if that was the case . Hope everyone’s well on this forum. Cheers, Susan Waring

He was someone I enjoyed speaking to very much and I'll always be grateful for the short time he was my friend I'm sorry to hear about his things and I do hope as well that they found a great home. I wish you well and joy. May you find some comfort in his memory, reading through his posts and just know he is still missed. Alison

In my mind, that stone will be a memorial to your dad, since he loved crazy lace so much.
Glad to hear from you and as the others have said, we miss your dad very much.

I too miss your Dad. Looked forward to reading his posts, as they always contained something special. The zoo, the bakery and how he could almost always find pictures in rocks.

I also think about John often - in the semi-anonymous world of the internet it's amazing how a larger than life personality can come along and affect so many people in such a short about of time. It's probably better that we don't know what happened to his rocks - it's a story that plays out often when a rockhound passes and the family just clears their stuff out without really knowing what it's about. Take care and feel free to check in every year (or sooner).
