Is anyone using these MegaView Pro Magnifier Headsets? Megaview HeadsetAre the lenses as distortion free as advertised? Pricey, but, if as good as their reviews say, they may be worth it. Thanks! James

I've not noticed any distortion. The lenses are plastic (like prescription glasses) so keep that in mind when cleaning them. Unrestricted peripheral vision, the comfort, and the Megaview's light weight get big points from me. For faceting where glare can be a problem, I opted to get the basic set without lights.

I got mine because it had a lot of bells and whistles (more to play with for me. Lol!) but... I can see one thing that the OptiVisor has that my MagniVisor does NOT... side shields for better eye safety. I miss that... especially now that I am teaching myself silver soldering and prone to many mistakes that could cause splatter.

By "splatter" I was referring to how the safety pickle explodes when I drop the slag into it... that is all I am producing so far... slag... too much heat. Gotta work on that. That is why the side panels on the OptiVisor would come in handy.

James As for lens distortion... I can't see any yet. I can focus on a clear point, and the without moving my head I can easily check out the surrounding area without noticeable distortion (up until the focus gives up because I am sooo challenged without my reading glasses).

Thanks, all, for your replies. I'm going to "bite the bullet" because I found the Pro style cheaper at MegaView HeadsetI'll report in and let everyone know how they work for me. Peace, James

But maybe I misunderstood.

toiv0I was just trying to follow the instructions shown on the At The Bench video with Andrew Berry. (around location 8:00 where he introduces the viewer to safety pickle) Also adding water to acid is not good... causes splatter too. Always add acid to water. In the next video (around location 22:18), while he is soldering jump rings he dumps them directly into the safety pickle
