Long time no see! Let's get the health stuff out of the way - last October I herniated a lumbar disc (that wasn't diagnosed until February). It was slowly getting better with a lot of rest and a little physical therapy. Over the course of getting it diagnosed, they gave me an Xray and an MRI, which discovered a hidden treasure... Apparently my first IUD (from 12 years ago!) didn't "fall out" as the doctor thought. It actually perforated my uterus and embedded itself into my bladder wall. I had surgery to get it removed almost three weeks ago, and it ended up rupturing my bladder on the way out. Recovery from that procedure (involving a lot of bed rest), that apparently undid some of the PT work and further weakened my muscles / reduced my joint flexibility, because the acute "knives in back" pain from the herniated disc is back. Okay, on to the fun stuff! In February I started an instagram (mvmgems) and have been swamped with commission cutting. Here are some of the highlights from the last few months, all for clients or sold. Mahenge garnet, 1.36 ct Sapphire, pink/blue, rose-cut, 0.78 ct Unheated Montana sapphire, 1.78 ct Aquamarine, 2.66 ct Sphene, suite of 5.0mm pairs and 5.3 single Suite from right to left: Winza pink sapphire/ruby, tsavorite, Nigerian tourmalines Suite clockwise from top left: Colombian sapphire, Umba sapphire, Montana sapphire, Afghan tourmaline

What a coincidence- I was just emailing my SIL about my ruptured disks and then I came here. (need a new MRI) No fun!!! I'm so sorry. It is good that they found the IUD, though. My daughter's IUD had a similar issue. I hope you are feeling better soon. Your cutting is superb and the gems are stunning! I would be so nervous cutting into some of those. I can't pick a fav- I have a soft spot for all the sparklies, but I must say that greenish aquamarine really does it for me. You so rarely see it anymore and it's my preference.

Outstanding stones! That cobalt spinel really kicks some butt. It is stunning! Love the Mahenge sapphire. The colors Mahenge comes in are so pretty.
Also kudos on the sphene suite! I bet those stones blind you in person. One of my personal favorites, especially the chrome sphene.
The Montana is special. Unheated and being able to cut a stone that size from the rough is awesome.
Glad to see you posting your stones again. Prayers for you to heal quickly and completely!

You have come a long ways with your work! I remember when you started doing this... Beautiful work, to say the least... Heal up there Kiddo and take it easy for awhile... I too am healing up from a herniated disc, very painful ordeal.... Your young and healthy, you will bounce back in no time... Like your work too!
