I made a few very simple pins for an upcoming arts event. Just used foam core, stick on pin backs. Attached these to tumbled flat pieces of rocks. No worries, these pin backs stick very tight. I have a pin I made in the 1990's using these. I am struggling a little with what they should be priced at. The other items I am bringing range from $5.00 for small cab, which could be set in a ring, to $40.00 for a crochet wire wrap of a piece of copper ore. Will also have necklaces, bracelets and earrings. A mix of costume jewelry to the more elegant. Will have a variety of ribbons/cords on hand to attach to the pendants. Custom, ready to wear jewelry. The event is an annual arts walk/music event downtown Stevens Point, WI. About 50 local artists are selected to set up their items in or in front of businesses on Main Street. The artists must be present and are allowed to sell items. Each artist is paired with an appropriate business. The event draws thousands of people each year. The business I will be at is a small, upscale boutique, offering clothing and accessories. Their current jewelry offerings are very limited, and are about $20.00 - $40.00. The attendees for this event range from locals with limited money to those who are ready to spend over $1000.00 supporting local artists. Prices for items range from $5.00 to in the thousands. I have a tendency to price my items too low for events like this, so appreciate the input of those here. Below are a couple examples. I have a range of prices in mind, which I will share after the input of others. Thank you.

Depending on how may you do, I'm thinking you might want as wide a range as possible. Maybe in the $3 - $12 range (based on how attractive is the stone). It'll be a learning experience with these items for the next time you sell, and you can mark down or up depending on how things go after the first hour or so. Given what you said above, I'd be sorely tempted to price one piece (perhaps a chunk of driveway gravel) at $1,000 - who knows, maybe one of the fatter wallets will suddenly become attracted to it (and you can always let him/her bargain you down on that one, or post a "$995 Off" sign toward the end of the show). Have fun!

Have fun! I love your attitude on this. Am thinking the Montana Moss is the best one. Maybe price that at what I would consider a ridiculous prce, say $100.00 and see what happens. Thanks for this idea. See, am always selling myself short.

It's hard to determine what to sell stuff for- but I agree, you can always go down. I've only been to one rock swap (different than an art event, I know) but I'm planning on going to two of them this year that are near me (Crawford, NE and Hermosa, SD) so I can kind of get an idea of what they charge. I know Fairburns are ridiculously expensive, but I'm going to try to save a couple of bucks. I remember when I went last year they had some really cool slabs...

I plan on going to the local rock show next Sunday. Was told there is usually lot of finished jewelry there, so will be checking prices.
