I think you should buy one! I am thinking seriously about getting one at some point. Will be getting some rather large pieces from a couple of mines and have been trying to figure out how I can get them down from the mines.

The whole vein is about 9 feet long and the middle is about 4 inches thick and hard. So I expect it to weigh about 300-600 pounds for what I hope to get out intact.

So will that be a specimen or working material. If working material I would take a gas concrete saw up and slice it up. a 9 ft rock depending might be a ton or more a 3x3x3 ft rock is around 3000 lbs.

Holy Cannoli!
That is a gorgeous looking vein. I think the price of that cart is worth it for all the hounding you do. It will save your back, too. I know you do a lot of hounding by yourself. It would definitely be beneficial.

I won't get all 9 feet out intact but hoping to get at least 6 feet of it intact to make one very large polished slab. I am ordering a gas powered rotary hammer drill to knock out the limonite above it and the feldspar below it. Have several three pound pieces and polished one up. Polishes up really nice.

I want the ride on version... Just buy a tank. The tank would eliminate your need for the gas powered hammerdrill also . Probably also eliminate the chance of getting a six foot piece as well. Al

Good luck getting a large rock into that crawler. My suggestion instead would be to pull an ATV on a tilt trailer to the site and then hook the ATV to the trailer. Use the winch on the ATV (with chains) to pull the rock onto the trailer. At least, that would be my approach.

I have considered an ATV but an ATV will not make it to the one mine I want to bring a big stone down from. Will have to slide it down to the base of the tailings then figure out the rest of the way to the truck from there. The one with the vein I may possibly be able to get an ATV up to the mine but not a sled.
