I had to go in two directions today. Took the time to appreciate the beauty of where I live and take many photos. All photos are within 10 miles of my house.
Cannot caption all, but here are some descriptions in no order.
The area is full of eskers, streams, rivers and lakes. Glacial deposits sculpt the landscape. Farm fields, horses, cows, plant nurseries tucked away on country roads. The ice Age Trail. What I consider the best State park in Wisconsin, Hartman Creek. It is not just a creek, but includes a chain of 4 lakes. A mix of modern and rustic facilities. Many horse riding trails and horse facilities. Primitive and modern camping. Baseball and volleyball. Several beaches. Boat, canoe and Kayak rentals. A campground store with many local items, including veggies, meats and cheeses.
The Central Wisconsin Food Hub is run by a friend of mine. Local farm items are distributed across the state from there.
In Amherst there is the Opera House I am heavily involved with. We are restoring a 1902 Opera House. It is across the street from the Mill Pond on the Tomorrow River. The area has a walking path and several picnic areas. A couple of docks for fishing. It is algae bloom season on the pond. Also, the many geese who live there are taking advantage of the trail. The area by the dam is loaded with many local rocks.
Lots of Spring flowers in bloom now.
One might see a newly born calf with their mom. Many 1800's barns and other buildings in the area. Some new construction.
Wild West Campground and Riding Stables is across the street from me. They are well know in the Upper Midwest USA for their girls horse camps. Their horse pastures border the Township baseball diamond.
