Recently acquired a Raytech 10” L-10S and I’m going to use it to cut mostly agates. A local cutter told me make sure I get a notched diamond blade, but the rock and gem supply store told me I don’t need that. They are looking to sell me a MK 303 Professional. Any recommendations? Also looking to understand specs. I will be dealing with some smaller agates, so I’d like thin cuts.

I like the regular MK303. I installed a 14 inch MK301 on my big saw because I was told it would last longer. I don't use that saw any more because I only work on small rough and my trim saw with an 8 inch .032 MK303 does just fine. The smaller the kerf the less material is wasted.

I use them both, depends on what kind of material you are cutting.... Some petwood and Brazilian agate get pretty tough on blades...

The most expensive blade that I bought was special ordered for me and was notched. It was the one recommended by the distributor. I only used it once. It cut fast, but tended to break the rocks towards the end of the cut. It could have been the kind of rock that I was slicing or my method. However, I don't nearly have the same issue with a diamond blade.
