Many do not understand a love of rocks and transforming them. They do not know the knowledge and time it takes. Do not know the difference between hand crafted items and those that are dyed stones mass produced in foreign countries. I first try to quickly educate a nay sayer about the knowledge, time and effort that goes into a finished product. If they are still not convinced, then I let it go. If they want to spend $10.00 on a pendant that was represented as turquoise in sterling which is actually dyed howlite in silver plate, so be it. Those who understand are great and I love talking about my pieces with educated people. It has always astounded me why people (women) purchase Avon jewelry which has no precious metal content for big $$. Then complain about the price of 14K or Sterling at the same price point.
