My Uncle Richard is retiring out of the hounding business(83 years old)... Oh the stories and times he has seen and done. Traveled the world in search of the rocks.. He has been gifting me something, every time we go to Montana.. He handed me a box of these rocks and said, "Have fun"...

Very cool. But, sad, too. Another oldtimer leaving the hobby. It's great you guys share the love of rocks.

Very cool. But, sad, too. Another oldtimer leaving the hobby. It's great you guys share the love of rocks. He has and is showing me all of his collecting sites in Montana also... I am meeting the landowners and they are very nice people... He is giving me tips on making the landowners happy and how to accomplish that, how and where to do the best finds. The best times to collect on certain lands, etc, etc... Being friendly and nice to people is the key... His clients list is long, and from the states, Germany, Israel, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, France, Russia, Africa, Japan ….. Probably never deal with most of his clients, but its great to know the main openings to selling.. He called me yesterday, said to swing by when, we get back to Montana, more goodies to bring home.. I need to record some of his stories, so I can write them down... PS: What's cool is he is retiring out and we have a 3rd generation hounder coming into the picture... My brothers granddaughter loves rocks and hounding and has started her rock collection - she had me and Uncle Dick ID some of her material (She is 13 years old).. I'm making up a big box of rocks for her as we speak....

What a terrific and generous resource. And, that's really cool about your niece. Both my grandsons have a mild interest in rocks that I can see growing in time, esp my youngest one. My son is into rocks a lot, but he doesn't really have the time for it now. You are really lucky to have such a treasure.
