The past two females have been unable to have pups rockpickerforever. Had a dry spell... I was curious when Jean was getting a dog to replace Lucy...

jamesp, I knew you were going to ask that. No, we are still dogless, did not replace Lucy. Although we miss all our dogs, there is a freedom to be able to do things without taking a dog with you, and not feeling guilty about leaving the dog home alone, or having to cut the evening short to get home to the dog after being gone all day. Poor Lucy, we took her everywhere with us, including prospecting, when it probably wasn't the best thing for her, especially in her last couple of years. But she was a trooper, and just loved going with us. Also, I don't miss the vet and food bills. My sister has two dogs I get to love on when I go to my dad's (like now). Grayce loves to bark, which is something I don't miss, Jade is not so bad. Who knows, maybe some day, just not right now. I am sorry to hear you had not one, but two female dogs barren. But you're still thinking about it? Not entirely done with it yet?

Went out rockhounding for a couple of hours yesterday, no Fairburns but I thought I'd share a couple of pics. Lots of spiderwebs in the ruts, plus a little guy we came across...

They are taking over a bit, have had 3 litters in the past couple of years. It is working fine but we don't get or puppy fix. However I feel sure Denise will be having more thru co-owned dogs. I get the break in dog ownership. You guys probably need a some freedom. We may consider going that route soon. Live vicariously thru sista's dogs - thumbs up ! You can dog sit occasionally too. Enjoy your new found freedom !

cool mr jamesp That sunset was taken at Papago Park Its elevated and lies directly east of Phoenix Towards the south side. Do a 180 eastbound and look directly at the Supers! Plus the Park is directly north of Tempe The Tempe section as those mirrored high rises that I get so stoked about Looking north is the Camel’s Back fabulous views up there That why the first Arizona Governor Hunt had a Pyramid mausoleum over looking over the rising phoenix But before we give him any more publicity Papago Park is butted up next to the Phoenix Zoo. So when it cool and, with that telephoto lens- giraffes, and maybe tigers and such- might be easily photographable my pals the big horns come out during dusk

mohs did you ever consider a small, portable tripod? I have a pocket sized telescoping one, maybe 4 inches long. It works great. Just set it on a rock or car and good to go. I have used it with a 200 mm lens with no problems.

A very happy A.J. digging into a package from a very generous RTH member. He is over the moon about it. Actually got the package just under two months ago but our tumblers have been so backed up he has only been cutting/grinding on the material, until yesterday when the first pieces went in. Thanks again jamesp!
