These are flowers from the yard-Peacock or Pride of Barbados and Queeny zinnias. The zinnias are mostly pastel and make a good cut flower. The flower size is about 3”.

Trouble in Hummingbird Land
This is one of our neighborhood gray rat snakes, who does this kind of thing fairly often.
Tom removes him every time we see him & transports him to the other side of the property.
He's usually back within a couple of days. We had to take down our seed feeder for the summer to discourage him, now he's after the hummers.
We tell ourselves he must have caught one, to be some obsessed. I think we need to move him more miles away - but we just haven't gotten to it yet.
I don't harbor ill feelings toward him, as he's just trying to make a living, but still................

'Trouble in Hummingbird Land' ... 'I don't harbor ill feelings toward him....'
So said the smiling lady riding on the back of the Tiger... now the smile is on the face of the Tiger.

Oh boy, it's a good thing my snakes haven't tried that. I love my snakes, but I love my hummingbirds more.

Is your brother in S Carolina RickB ? That particular carnivorous plant is native to SC. Fox squirrels on wall ? We're here in Columbia SC and yes, fox squirrels on wall. There's a Carolina Bay near McClellanville SC where we camp that has wild patches of pitcher plants. We go back in a week and a half. I'll try to get some good photos of them. Don't know where Bob got his from so I'll ask. Maybe from a local garden center though. When we were teenagers we found a clump or two of them here in Columbia in a low lying area. I remember that they were kind of purple/red looking. That valley is now a subdivision so they are long gone. We had Sundews here in Columbia also. Here's what I remember it looking like:

Poor fox squirrels they don't have good sense and were almost hunted to extinction in the coastal plain Georgia. The Flava is native to S Carolina. As are those Carolina bays that raise so many questions.

They make good stews I come from a family of hunters. Whenever we would bring back some squirrels mom would make spaghetti sauce out of them. Nothing like squirrel with tomato sauce and pasta.
