Greetings! I have been reading posts in the Rock Tumbling Forums for about a year now. I have been tumbling for about a year and a half. I admit I do not possess the desire as many in the community do to produce 'perfect' rocks. I tumble most rocks with pits/cracks/fractures and see what I get in the end. Sometimes they have character--sometimes they get tossed into my yard. I live in Massachusetts and my selection of native rocks for tumbling is not ideal. As such it is an unpopular hobby in my area as most interesting material must be purchased. Tumbling rocks is only one of my secondary hobbies: My main hobby is breeding ball pythons. I have over 15 years experience breeding reptiles. I have produced hundreds of captive bred ball python morphs as pets. I use the tumbled stones I produce as photographic background props for the ball pythons I hatch (I currently do not sell to the public). Once I have enough photos (near the Fall) I will create a thread and start uploading my photos bit by bit. Note: I am also 'Lord Sorril' of Ball-Pythons.net.

Welcome to the forums from the desert Southwest!
Hey, that is exactly what I do with the stones that I end up not completely finishing to shape round or polish completely. I throw them in to the yard with the other rocks. The nice part, is that the rock doesn't get orphaned really, and becomes kind of a rock star (no pun intended actually) in the yard among all of the other common landscaping variety of stones.
It is often that I be trudging through the yard in one place or another and come across one of those guys, and think "hey, that's not such a bad looking stone! ...", and put it back. At least they have a home now.
