I've had the Montana for a long time and didn't have shape I liked. The green moss should be ok. The Morgan Hill has vugs and I worked the slab so I have a chance. The last Owyhee I cut from this material fractured and The Butterfly wing is brecciated. I don't expect to be able to finish all of them.

I worked on this without a dop trying to get rid of the vug; take down the girdle, take in the girdle. They are still there at 280 soft. The cab is small and I would only consider recutting if it fractures. I like it enough to finish it adn the defects won't be that obvious polished at actual size

The vug is not going anywhere. 90% of the work is done so I will finish it.

It undercuts a little, but you still get a polish with it.

I don't treat stones. Avoidance, adjustment and disclosure is my approach. When a cab is good enough to sell. I would rather disclose the defect than the treatment. The more cabs I cut, the more my skill improves. When the cab isn't good enough to sell, I still benefit from making it.
Certain material buyers are expecting defects. Morgan Hill is one and Koroit is another. When I make a cab I don't want any defects. I made some Koroit cabs and was extremely disappointed in the material. I made one that had nice features but some pitting on the face and a surface fracture on the back. I listed it with disclosures responded to an email from a person who liked it and made a sale. Upon receipt the buyer was thrilled. A lot of rock is imperfect.

The other 3 are dopped and will work on them tomorrow. Photographed in bright sun (first sunny day in a while).
