Thin piece of Royal Imperial rough and a Tahoma slabette. I will grind the skin off the lumpier side of the RI and if something is there, I'll put a shape on it. The Tahoma has nothing on the front or the back, but some color in the edges. I'll put a shape near the area where I see color and start grinding. THis may be a very short project.

I trimmed the edges of the Royal Imperial and only saw brown. I ground the matrix off the face with the 80 grit wheel and found only ugly brown. I did a nice job of flattening the face with the wheel. The Tahoma was better with more colors and values. I had two other pieces of Tahoma. The first one was cleaning it up and there was a freeform cab. The other one presented no pattern. I did design by subtraction. Removing what I didn't want and a pattern emerged. I bought a large piece of faced Blue Mountain and there was an orby area that fractured. I saved the scrap. Today I trimmed off the knife edges to see if there was enough left to make a cab and got a nice preform.
