That is some serious roughage in that little turd! I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around how something could have swallowed and digested those if that is the size of the poop, assuming small poop is from a small animal. Or maybe it is just a piece of a larger turd?

Or maybe it is just a piece of a larger turd? It could have been a series of multiple turds ejected together. Some herbivores do it today.

Back in those days everything was crunchy, unlike today's peanut butters like Jif where smooth is a less painfull option. ![](https://i.postimg.cc/RZ28jBW7/Capture.jpg)

It's TURD TUESDAY and this one might be special. I cut it yesterday and haven't had a chance to polish it so I'm showing it wet. Does anybody see what I think I'm seeing? ![](https://res.cloudinary.com/drums6h3y/image/upload/v1692720546/oe9fdbld1grq7yvmgrvl.jpg)

Yes, that's what I see too. I can't count the growth rings as easily but they are discernable if the specimen is in your hand.

TURD TUESDAY ![](https://res.cloudinary.com/drums6h3y/image/upload/v1693311425/zg4ebc3umrwdffgtsu8i.jpg) That is an awesome specimen! Sometimes I get lucky. Just a wild guess... but I'd say I have to cut around 60-70 to get one that good. Most of them are rather plain when it comes to colors and contrast.

I can't count the growth rings as easily but they are discernable if the specimen is in your hand. Okay...so if that was a full limb...and the "tracks" are dung beetle tracks...how were the beetles able to make tracks through what I would think would be a solid piece of wood and not actual soft "dung" where I imagine most dung beetles are found? Could it be a wood boring beetle...or some wood boring insect as opposed to an actual dung beetle? Am I looking at it wrong?

I speculate they are not beetle burrows but are cracks like what you see in limb or log cross sections. Notice how most of the cracks seem to radiate out from the center? It reminds me of the firewood pile where you can see the cut ends and the cracks that radiate from the center get bigger with time. I've noticed that beetle burrows seem to be more random than this one.
