I've been on a sawing marathon today in between domestic chores. Once in a while I get one that makes me tingle, like this one... ![](https://res.cloudinary.com/drums6h3y/image/upload/v1694216236/yh1ursejgccr3pkar2f5.jpg)

Spectacular. First time I've ever seen a dung beetle condominium complex.

That's a gorgeous one! The green tones are amazing. Yeah, in natural light it has gorgeous lavender, gray and green tones. My phone screen shows it better than my ancient laptop screen! lol

RWA3006 You've had a whole bunch of real nice ones lately!!! I was planning to cut a few I got off you, but I don't think my 6" hi-tech can handle it. I burned out the motor once cutting thundereggs, and got the motor replaced. About 2-weeks ago I fired it back up and cut some rough and geodes and it over heated twice. I think if I keep pushing it I'll burn out this new motor pretty quick. I think I'm gonna try to get a HP 14" drop saw in a month or 2 for cutting specimens, so I don't kill my hi-tech a 2nd time.

I'd make sure the edge of the Hi-tech blade cuts a wide enough kerf to reduce friction on the rest of the blade. Sometimes peening the edge with a bastard file helps. I tune my blades regularly this way. I've had my eye on that drop saw for some time and I think it would be good for cutting specimens in half. If you get it I'd like a full report on how it does!

Ok, I'm trying to solve a mystery and I'm at an impasse. I'd like for you smart people to look at these photos and try to figure out what these round structures are. I believe they are a component of the Dino's diet but I can't identify growth rings like many of the twigs I encounter. I've thought of horsetail stems and don't feel satisfied. I know the dino diet was limited because many deciduous plants hadn't appeared yet. Somebody enlighten me please. ![](https://res.cloudinary.com/drums6h3y/image/upload/v1694812983/q1qrazuqjxqjmek1h4c2.jpg) ![](https://res.cloudinary.com/drums6h3y/image/upload/v1694812995/zyepyzhvqarxlb7q2aqd.jpg)

Coming completely out of left field...
What if they were some kind of seed pod? A lot of seed pods have a "husk" that would probably withstand the digestive track...like they do with birds nowadays. That would explain the small(ish) round structures...
Just a thought...with probably not enough coffee ingested yet this morning...but no seed pods! LOL

I haven't the faintest idea, but I don't think I'm one of the smart ones. LOL! However, I do love a mystery. I'll be watching this.
On the plus side- they look really cool. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

However, I notice their structure is tubular like a stem, and they sometimes traverse the entire coprolite. Where's our plant guy? jamesp
