Those turned out great, Jason! The first one really seems to have a lot going on. It doesn't even look like it should have stayed in one piece. I hope your father-in-law loves it! When I was cutting the slab on that one, I thought the same thing...how long is this going to stay together? LOL It was actually really solid. It was a bit softer than the other one, but still really solid...so I guess they were both constipated cabs! LOL

Good job jasoninsdThanks for posting them and I think I like the first one best because of the rich colors. These coprolites can really surprise you because you just never know what's lurking inside till you cut them.

That first one really turned out to be WAY better than I thought it would at first. I love that one! I'll post pics of all the crappy cabs when I get them done. I think I barely have enough material for another hundred cabs or so... LOL

Funny you mentioned that! Here's a pic of the back of the cab. What does that down at the bottom look like?!? LOL

OK, that might have traumatized me. I've always loathed parasites and the back of that cab is spooky.
I've read that paleontologists say there were parasites in dinosaurs but it hasn't been on my radar to watch for evidence in coprolites. Now I'm going to keep an eye out for signs.

Here's one that I think was highly pelletized. I get the impression it was just a mass of pellets about the size of peas stuck together enough to not disintegrate. The whole specimen is about the size of a small orange.

The whole specimen is about the size of a small orange. Was the exterior smooth? I can see how that could be pelletized based on the interior appearance. It does look like very regular sized patterning inside.

Here's a shot of the exterior where a pelletized texture is visible.

Thanks, Randy! From the edges of the cut coprolite, I would have guessed it was smoother. That lumpy exterior looks more like the other pelletized poop you posted.

This is such a great thread, thought this would fit in. Randy had sent me Coprolite that I sent to numerous kids around the US. This book popped up on FB and I ordered a couple of copies for the older kids.

TURD TUESDAY That last one is interesting. In the bottom half, there appears to be a circle within the coprolite defined by an orange band. I wonder if that is indicative of how the poop dried out or just a coincidence.
