Holy cow, Win , those are beautiful! That one at upper right has a peculiar pattern I've never seen before.

Thanks, these were mostly end cuts and polished really well. Still working on some others. Another take on Randy's giant turd:

Sometimes we have to cover a lot of country to find very few coprolites. Once in a while we get lucky and can load the truck. I'm at the point in my collecting career where I only take a small quantity from each area because my tastes have evolved to a narrow window of what I prefer.

Perhaps a different choice of words would have been better here...

Yes it does. I usually carry 5 gallon buckets and often have to scramble through rough country in my quest.

You know, it really does "roll" downhill. If fact I've even seen rivers of it coursing down ravines and draws. Most of the darker stones in this photo are coprolite.

Forgive me if I've shown this one before but I thought it is significant enough to revisit. The halves remind me of two little bird heads chirping at each other. What really gets my attention are the "eyes" of the birds. Look closely and you can see they are cross sections of a large twig the saw bisected.

This little turd just came out of the Lot-O. I like this one because it has a very turd-like profile. My wife has already claimed it to send to her school-teacher friend along with a larger uncut coprolite.

Thanks for sharing and holler when you need more. I completely agree. I find it fascinating not just because it is something that formed after passing through a dinosaur millions of years ago, but it can be such a beautiful material. It’s amazing to hold something like that in your hand and think about how it formed and what has transpired since then. My daughter has been asking when we will get some more. I still have several to cut up, but I’m sure we will be requesting some more. My wife’s friends all have dinosaur-obsessed boys, so much of that original box will probably be shared with them.
