Yes, it is atypical of what I usually find. I find myself occasionally second guessing myself on identification and can usually sort it out after some study. One thing that helps is the immediate areas where I find these do not have many other rock species to confuse me and it's fairly easy to differentiate between them.

The above specimen has an anomaly at one o'clock on the upper half in the vice jaws. My opinion is this is the remains of a dung beetle bore hole, probably filled with beetle dung.
