On Monday my wife and I drove up to meet my wife's Sister about half way to her house. We were bringing her about 10 large bags of items for a Garage Sale she does to help out a good neighbor. (a win for me, more space in the garage for rocks!!). We were picking up a table and 4 chairs for my daughter who has started a full-time job out of town (another win for me, she's going off my payroll!!) We swapped the items and my Wife and her Sister decided to go into the little Outlet Mall where we were parked. "we will only be 15 minutes!" So I applied the normal multiplier for the shopping and added the multiplier for 2 ladies shopping ladies and figured I had 45 minutes to kill. As I walked around the parking lot I noticed several gravel filled islands. Upon searching, I started finding Petrified Wood. In 35 minutes I picked up about 20 pounds of tumbleing material. Most was coated with a white caliche that should tumble off. There was nice color showing under the coating wherever there was a chip. You've gotta love win-win-win-win situations! Nice little haul! There's some very interesting chunks in that mix! I've gotta remember your multiplier!

Awesome haul! Those rocks were just waiting for you to take them home and appreciate them. I was road cycling once and we had stopped to wait for part of the group to catch up. I happened to look down at my foot and there was a beautiful chunk of yellow calcite Crystal. No way was I going to leave that thing just laying there in a pile of landscape gravel. I rode the next 10 miles with that thing in my hand because it wouldn't fit in my pockets.

Nice haul. I've been known to pick up a rock or two at parking lot islands, Hardee's, McDonalds, motels, etc.

These urban outcroppings should always be checked out.

What a great luck! It looks like there is some Palm Wood in there too! Wow! You won the lottery. I'd be heading back for a return trip to get more, no matter how silly I might look ambling about the gravel piles (like someone that ate too many mushrooms) looking for more.

Cool finds. Are some of those palm? I’m looking at two about dead center in the last pic, for example.

Yes they are, there may be another one for sure and one maybe. Difficult to tell until the coating is off, still about 6 or 7 pounds in the process.
