I'm not very organized when trimming. The left overs are on the bench where they land. The bench was getting crowded so I took the left overs and put them on the top of my slab saw which hasn't been used recently. I have some rough arriving tomorrow so I needed to clear off the top of the saw. I found some stuff to work on. Morgan Hill, Butterfly wing which is a thick slab that I will trim and split, Willow Creek.

Nice material. Looking forward to seeing the results. Your other cabs in these materials were very pretty.

I'm starting to have a real liking for Willow Creek. If it were me...and I know it's not!...I'd move that cab outline from 5:00 to about 7:30/8:00 in order to incorporate that darker brown section. Either way it's going to be gorgeous.

Either way it's going to be gorgeous. The brown stuff is matrix (the host rock that surrounds the jasper). It pits and doesn't polish well. I'm thinking of changing the orientation 90 degrees and a different shape. I'm still a hobbyist but selling allows me to buy stuff that I couldn't before. I bought 20 pounds of Willow Creek rough from Tony/catmandewe and slabbed it all, so I have a lot of WC to work on. I've already made 4 cabs from the same rock.

I should have known there was a reason you didn't incorporate it. You really do have an eye for finding the best patterns in your cabs!

One man’s scraps are another person’s slabettes. Nice-looking material.

I changed the design on one of the Willow Creeks. I trimmed, split and am ready to dop the Butterfly earrings. The original slab had two different patterns when I did a hacked up split the cut area became the top and the best match.
