Turquoise seam would look goooood!
How will you handle the chip?

Yep Pat that the problem I had shaped these 2 stones years ago & set them aside because of the chip on the seam Its nasty- and too deep to grind out That why I set the stones aside. I was trying to think of some type of epoxy filler ? Probably a no go So its going to be a hole in the heart Whether I seam it or not But letting a little rock go to waste Is a terrible thing….

who knohs maybe if I seam it w/ a wide piece I could fill in the gap w/ some type of color epoxy then grind down the side then dome on any ideas? some one had posted color epoxy maybe I could add some orangeish enamel paint to the epoxy and fill it in? seem like the store would have that in stock altho w/ the pandemic who knohs they probably had a run on orange paint for dubious reasons...

If you could cut out a matching shape (circle or oval) from both sides, then you could slide the turquoise seam in. The end result would have the turquoise seam, with a half circle/oval on either side of it.

I like Pat 's idea a lot! As an alternative, you could also grind down the same amount of each side of the heart until the the divot is gone and just make a skinny rockin' heart.
ETA: Or you could put some crushed coral in the divot with epoxy to fill it up. I have some I can send you (I owe you some Apache Gold - I haven't forgotten!) I also have some epoxy coloring powder, but I have to find it to see what colors are there that may be compatible.

Could also do a lot like what Robin hummingbirdstones said, but make the center "seam" the same width as the sides, and grind the sides to a matching width to remove the chip? Probably not the effect you're looking for...

Yep as far as getting into inlay Well that coming, hopefully
BuildAHeart From many small strips vertically Got that idea in mind
a really crafty person could inlay geometric shapes or even got that Arizona flag idea
got get a better setup before I try tackling finesse...
thanks for the ideas !

I also have some epoxy coloring powder,
Do ya know if 'Michaels’ craft carry that epoxy coloring agent? I got to make trip over because running low on eye pins ha anyway I'll be looking leaning towards some sort of filler...

Hey Mohs,
I hope you're able to save this one. I like the colors!
I see two chips. The obvious one on the right hand side, and then it looks like there's a chip on the bottom of the left hand side. I might be wrong, but if you were to eliminate equal material from the centerline of each piece (the width of the chip on the right), this would eliminate both chips and it looks to me like the volume of now "missing" material would be made up by the width of the turquoise seam...

Ya knohs Jase that pretty interesting excellently stated ! I hadn’t looked at it that way
If I understand your reasoning
I could grind back the divot- * to a flush edge. Do the same amount on the other half. Of coarse that would make a very narrow heart. To correct that I could make up the difference w/ wider seam insert?
It would almost be 3 part vertical heart or 4 part if I wanted to epoxy separate seams of both halves.
hhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmm…
Anyway that my concept of what I understand you to be stating .
I tellya this -BuildAHearts- are trick in so many ways.
* (better descriptive word thanks to the hummingbirds grin)
**as a further addendum some chipping is tolerable on the edge it will be ground away in the dome grind altho I strive for right angle smoooth edge

That was exactly what I was thinking...and seeing in my minds eye! I think it'd look better as a 3 part rather than a 4 part heart, but probably whichever is "easier" to do...like there's going to be anything easy about this one! LOL

You probably picked the best way to handle this one Mohs! Can't wait to see the finished heart.

That makes two of us Jase
I’m liking my seal concoction for the seam. Hopefully the homemade color gum will hold. Test will be- to see- if the seal stays seamed through the divot doming grind. should knohs that soon….
