That is really cool! It almost seems "mossy" in some areas!

Pretty interesting. I'd like to see a non-closeup picture of the whole rock.

hummingbirdstones I’ll post some non close up photos to the thread tomorrow when I have some decent lighting. Not rushing you...just don't want you to forget. I've been curious about the looks of the whole rock as well.

That's a sweet looking rock! It just shouts for some macro photography. I really like the patterns on it.

Wow. That's bigger than I was thinking it was going to be! Thanks for taking the wide angle shots! So, would this be considered a "conglomerate"? Doesn't a conglomerate have to be held together by sedimentary rock, and I don't know if the chalcedony would be sedimentary or not? Edit - Stunning piece by the way!

jasoninsd they are both sedimentary. Conglomerate are rounded pieces held together, breccia are angular pieces held together. Whoot whoot! You just "learnt" me somethin' for today! I never paid enough attention in Science class...Jennifer H's desk was two up and one over from me, so never heard much of what the teacher was saying!

Boy, sure wish I could help you with an ID, but whatever it is it's really cool. Thanks for posting the pic!
