While sitting around after a fun day of exploration with mohs Saturday, I started looking at some resources in the area I'm in and discovered the last day of an estate sale that had started with some rock and equipment. Decided to go by "to ask questions". Came back with this. The price was definitely right, less than the value of the steel. A ball machine, looks like high quality home made awhile ago. Now I have a project. Or something. More ruminations to come.

Got a little bit done, still deciding if it will be a frame for something else, or a sphere machine for someone else. I don't make spheres.

You should start a poll to see which one you should go for! I'm voting sphere machine!

You should start a poll to see which one you should go for! I'm voting sphere machine! Since I don't make spheres, and the parts and labor to make it functional are likely to cost me more than I can sell it for, the most I can do is free up the stuck parts and let the next owner add bearings, motors and wiring if it's going to be a ball maker again. I will progress in that direction for now, mostly because I'm bored waiting for the house deal to hopefully close. I'll add some pics after the weekend to show all the work it will need. As I said at the beginning, the collection of parts is worth much more than I paid.

I wasn't even thinking about the additional funds needed to make it into a sphere machine.
I had to close on a house in NY one time many years ago...it took forever! I closed on a house here in SD and it took about 3 weeks! Talk about totally different parts of the country in many different ways!

I love projects like this but they don't love me. I'm too impatient. I'd be interested in a before/after shot though!
