Gods in the Greek Pantheon were capricious Old Testament God a heavy-handed gent Totally Amazing that the Romans leaned towards some empathy and fairness In the personalization of Christian theo Totally amozhing ! I find myself in the very rare circumstance of not having anything much to bitch about. Odd. But, glad.
Hope things improve next year for everyone.

Mel from Yuma & Spokane (PrettyGritty) said, "Being that I'm an agnostic, and sort of anti-social due to work, that should tell you how real my cabin fever is." Agnostic definition is - a person who holds the view that any ultimate reality (such as God) is unknown and probably unknowable; broadly : one who is not committed to believing in either the existence or the nonexistence of God or a god. .... The agnostic is in the most untenable position of denial of both god and no god and there by not having access to the comfort of either position. ..... Schroedinger’s God!

Life has been challenging personally, professionally and just living in the world at large (as the colossal stupidity of yesterday’s events proved beyond a shadow of a doubt). I refuse to let it beat me down (I am grateful for a great many things, definitely including the folks on this board), but I also refuse to succumb to what is called “toxic positivity.” Yes, there are those who have if far harder, but I have to acknowledge and sit wit my pain and grief in order to move forward.
A song for 2020 (and the start of 2021). Hoping for a turn-around, but maybe we need to wait for the lunar New Year.
“Things ain’t good, but things ain’t boring”

This isn't the first time you've made me Google something you've posted! I loved that song! It asks the question, "Are we falling or are we flying?". Isn't the difference between the two just a matter of making a conscious effort to "flap our wings"?

I get paid $0.00000001 every time I make someone Google something on this board. Maybe soon, I’ll be able to buy a rock with my earnings. I just recently learned the term “toxic positivity” myself. Usually I hear about comparing my inside to someone else’s outside. I like that song as well. Grace is a heck of a songwriter. AS for flying... I’ve tried to flap my arms. I think I need more feathers. Or maybe the wax melted . I definitely never stop trying, though. I guess I have a bit of Wile E. Coyote in me. Great song you posted, too.

My dad has always been addicted to ChapStick. Every year for Christmas my mom would get him a couple dozen tubes of it. One year, she wrapped them all individually and put them on the tree as decorations...unbeknownst to my father who then had to unwrap each of them individually! If we had all the ChapStick my father has utilized over the years, we'd have enough wax for a couple pairs of wings. Who doesn't like a little Raitt? I'll see your Bonnie and raise you a Banners!

I think we need a +1 or a thumbs up emoji as well...I suppose the "I agree" emoji would work for that though... I love using ellipses...and I know I use them too often and incorrectly, but to me they act like a "dramatic pause", or I'm trailing off the sentence, or as though I've left something open for interpretation. (Squirrel!) I went through a time quite awhile back where I would play this song every single morning while I was getting ready for the day. Every...single...morning!

Mel jasoninsd completely forgot about one of my favorite sayings: Religeon is for people who don't want to go to Hell. Spirituality is for people who hav already been there.

I hate to be an an ogre but religion is one of those topics that go smoothly for a short while then someone gets offended and butthurt and the thread goes to hell in a hurry (pun intended). It's definitely a subject better suited for The Cave where butthurt is not only expected it is encouraged

It's definitely a subject better suited for The Cave where butthurt is not only expected it is encouraged To clarify, the quote in my post is not meant to disparage religion in any way. Rather, it is to remind people that spirituality is there for anyone who needs it, whether or not you are religious, or have a specific view of a Higher Power. For some people the HP is a beach, the Universe..., for others it is more specific, and all are OK. One can have both, but one can also have a spiritual practice without it. The quote actually comes from people in recovery from trauma, who are unsure about everything, but need an anchor. 🙏

To be honest, I didn't even read it all - just saw the general gist of the conversation and got nervous lol. At this point I'm confident that everyone can keep it civil and nobody gets upset.

A friend of mine has a bumper sticker that always makes me smile (he's a Lutheran pastor) "God wants spiritual fruit, not religious nuts." And that's it for my religion talk
