I keep finding cool things, or at least, things I think are cool. I kind of want to show them off, but wasn't sure where to put them. I'm thinking a running thread of sorts to keep them in one place. Chunk of jasper with some agate bands in it. It's rolling right now. It about knocked my socks off when I saw it. It's a bit porous, but that's fine.   Finds from a trip  Another trip Dry  Wet  I almost didn't even pick this up. I thought it was driftwood on the bank. We've found nice chunks that looked like driftwood, so I tend to check just incase. This will probably stay as it is and be a shelf specimen.    |

Some pieces of petrified wood come in a perfect state when found. They are like puppies, they just have to go home with you, they are fun to look at, hold, and cherish. Nature polishes with water and blown sand and the end result makes you reluctant to mess with it. Thanks for reminding us.

Those are some very nice finds. It’s amazing how some pet wood can look exactly like a chunk of real wood while others hardly look like they could have ever come from a tree.
I really like the striped fella on the upper left of your “another trip” finds. It’s a shame that one has that big zigzag crack in the side.

I love threads like this! I have a couple threads for specific areas I hound so I can show finds which are area specific. Threads like these enable those of us with serious hounding addictions to live vicariously!  |
