Not sure what is going on down at the other end.... lol Now, now ... I THINK it's suppose to be a tail. Either that or it's taking a leak.

On a serious note, I have thought about Native feathers a little bit and believe they had a practical purpose (you heard it here first). Let me explain. If you have ever been on water or in a forest when deer flies are about, you will know how aggravating they can be. They buzz around your head, get into your hair and hurt like the dickens when they bite. But they are dumb. Instinctively, they go for the uppermost part of your body (your head) and especially target dark objects. I have double sided stickers for the back of a black hat ... and on a bad day can collect one per minute until the the tape is full. Another way to confuse them is to make yourself taller, by adding something above your head. A fern works great. A board on the backpack is OK. A tall dark feather is ideal. Side note. This doesn't work for horse flies which are larger and typically attack your legs. Nor does it work for gnats or black-flies. They seem to hone in on CO2 (breath). Notice that they don't bite when indoors...I don't think they can find you.
I have no idea about the other end in this carving, unless that is feather for horse flies. Not something I'm willing to test. Or maybe he was multitasking, with a broom up his butt so he could sweep the floor at the same time.

Sorry, no idea. It appeared on facebook with no explanation whether it was found on Mars or Venus.

It’s always kind of interesting when unrelated cultures come up with similar-looking symbols
