Hope you have a great day, sir! Thanks for the well-wishes. It's funny how it used to be "I can't wait to be able to drive / vote / graduate / order a beer, etc." Now it's "I hope I make it to 65, I hope I don't have to get my other knee replaced, and so on. Funny how your perspective changes.

Oh Lordy be! I'm trying avoid the first one. I own a lot of titanium. But I can't sell it, but my heirs will be able to. I have officially invested in their future.

Happy Birthday, Bill. Hope your day is splendiferous!
Know what you are saying about how aging (and health issues) can change your perspective on getting older. My DH has had just one back surgery (so far), I think the device they used was plastic. But he does have two titanium screws in his left knee after he broke it. Amazing what doctors today can do to put a person back together!
Have a glorious and healthy 2021!

I had that with fusion of L2 to already fused L3,4,5 and S1. Should be the last one.

A lifetime of living (car accident), genetics (both his parents had bad backs), working (moving heavy things) and playing (crashes on desert toys, etc), his problem was his vertebrae were not sitting atop each other as they should be. They were sliding off one another, like layers of a cake sliding. This was causing stenosis, so the fusion was done to stabilize them. He has since reinjured it, lifting things he should not have lifted. I'm sure more surgeries are in his future, as well as a knee replacement for that damaged left knee.
This is what they called it: "L4-5 bilateral decompressive laminectomy with right sided transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion and spinous process fixation." That was done in 2014.
A fancy term to attempt to fix a back that was not taken care of!
