This was a fun tumble. 4 small batches 10 days each and then into the lot-o. A little troublesome at first due to undercutting on some of the more unusual rocks. The majority of them have gone to my Sister's 5th grade class before I took any photos. Volcanos and lava are a "Hot" topic in her class room right now. The contrast and brightness have been increased so the photos match the actual stones. I used the "obsidian recipe" on the forum. I had several with "bubbles" Most had reds, off white and yellows

Good job on the tumble! I've got some firework obsidian I haven't had a chance to work just yet...but I'm sure I'll have a "blast" when the time comes!

Wow this came out nice. I have some obsidian but I’m too chicken to tumble it yet. Gotta work on my skills!

Some really sweet patterns here! I do feel your first photo is turietella agate. I'd venture a guess and say this material came from The Rock Shed. We are in the middle of rolling a lot of Fireworks Obsidian we got from there and there were more than a few pieces mixed in that looked like what you are identifying as Turitella and a whole bunch of Asteroid Jaspers in the mix as well. Must of been a sloppy bagging day. Nevertheless, great job on the stones irlcjrohrAl

I was thinking it was a bubbled formation from the obsidian. I will look into Turitella rough and try to see if I have any in the remaining obsidian lot. I am still working on rock identification. Before I started tumbling, just under 3 years ago, I always bought finished stones for my projects.

Identification is definitely not my strong suit but we have some slabs of Asteroid Jasper so that was easy. I don't think I would have got the Turitella until saxplayer mentioned it. The more materials that go through our hands the better we get, not to mention all of the info here. Al
