Took one of my favorite "collecting" trips this past Tuesday, to an pick up some material from an old Estate. Brought back about 450 pounds of material. A few pictures; About 8 big 20+ pound pieces, Sodalite(?), Palm Wood, Banded Rhyolite, couple of scenic Jaspers; IMG_2768 by Findrocks, on Flickr Misc smaller pieces, a lot of them with cut sides; IMG_2769 by Findrocks, on Flickr Tigers Eye and a few large Brazilians. A couple pieces of the Tigers Eye is variegated; IMG_2771 by Findrocks, on Flickr 20 Choyas Geodes and some Obsidian; IMG_2773 by Findrocks, on Flickr These were labeled Jade, I really need to get educated about Jade and it's cousin materials; IMG_2775 by Findrocks, on Flickr 25 pounds of decent Fire Agate. Not an expert on Fire Aagte but it does show good spots of fire; IMG_2778 by Findrocks, on Flickr Close up of Fire Agate; IMG_2786 by Findrocks, on Flickr These should keep me busy for a while, like I needed that!!

Nice touch putting the rock hammer in the first pic...like that was needed at an estate sale! LOL Henry, it really looks like you've got a lot of nice pieces in there! And I think you're going to have your hands full with all of those Fire Agates!

For the possible jades, (as much as I can tell from a picture), I’d say the bottom almost for sure, the middle is a likely cousin, and the top one I would scratch test or get a specific gravity if I can. From just the pic I’d lean more toward serpentine. Jade in that particular shade of green certainly exists, but I haven’t seen much of it. Those lighter spots are interesting. Maybe (?) chromite
Nice finds.

Wow, nice haul!! Do you mind sharing (ok if not) approx cost of 450 lb of these fine specimens? All I will say about the price is that it was a real bargain. The 450 pounds brings my total to just over 10,000 pounds of material brought home from this source over the last 5 years. Sometimes in life you luck into great situations, this is one of those times. I don't want to boast too much as life as a way pulling the rug out from under you when you least expect it. And as I tell folks, no one really owns any rocks, they are just borrowing them. They eventually get passed on to someone else.

The fire agates look good; you can see fire in most of those.

Nice "trip" Yea I gotta find an estate like that. Love those fire agates. I have yet to find any I could afford. Got dessert roses a while back but none turned out to have any fire.

Awesome finds! 95% of my hoard is from estate finds. My local club gets contacted by people to hold private club sales and I capitalize fairly heavily at each of them.

These rocks are setting out on my just built 6' X 4' rock storage pad. It will accommodate 48 - 5 gal buckets of rocks. I don't go more than 2 high as 3 high scares me a bit.
The 4 previously cut Brazilians in one of the pictures went on the Vib Lap yesterday afternoon. 2 of them are really nice.

And as I tell folks, no one really owns any rocks, they are just borrowing them. They eventually get passed on to someone else. What a great sentiment. I think of this often when we're working away on these rocks. They were here long before us and will be long after we are gone. I like the thought that they will end up in someones hands that may appreciate the work that went into the raw materials to bring out the beauty that was there all along. Al
