It's been many years since I bought a piece of lapidary material that I could hold in my hand. The key to making a good online purchase is a good description, including pictures and not overpaying. fullmoon on facebook had a buy 4 items get 20% off sale. I usually can't find 4 items I want, but there was one item Nellite that I was familiar with and bumblebee, iron buffalo and fire agate which I never worked with. The items arrived today.

No trim saw today, only grinding. I glued a dop stick to the face of the fire agate so I could grind off the crud and flatten the bottom. Infused with matrix and fractures. I cleaned it up the best I could, tried to put a shape on it and dopped. Next session I'll put a polish on it. There's an old expression from a cigar forum, 'you can't polish a t**d' which refers to aging a bad cigar. I'll sand and polish and give up.

Actually you can, at least if it comes from an ostrich or lion.
