Nate and I did our 1st show today at the Hairy Mosquito in Milaca, MN today which is about 45 min from our place. Over 60 vendors were in attendance and I'd guess several hundred people attended. Really casual, live band, good food and fabulous weather. AND MORE IMPORTANTLY ALPACAS! (Nate said no, I can't bring them home ) We did pick up some surfite which I've been drooling over since I've seen a picture of it They will be having this again in September and we will be attending then as well This is a cool place to visit if your ever in the area and have different events almost every month

What an awesome day!
We enjoyed the show, had some great rock conversation, and best of all we sold some rough, a few slabs and a few of Ali's jewelry pieces! We made a profit over the cost of the booth so that's a bonus 👍 Was a learning experience as well.
We are very appreciative of the posts the folks here have made from past shows to give us some starting pointers.
Thanks everyone!
P.S. There was no room in the truck for the alpacas 😉

Congrats on getting your first show under your belts!
Alpacas are the cutest things ever and if I didn't have to take care of them, I'd have some. There are lots of folks around here who do have them, so I get to see them occasionally.

Congratulations you two! It's awesome you were into "profit" for the show, so that's a huge plus! I can't wait to see what you come up with for the Surfite! I've been intrigued by that material (Fordite/Surfite/all the "ites") ever since I've seen it. ps...there should always be room for an Alpaca! LOL

I can say I was pretty nervous about it but after yesterday I feel increased confidence in my jewelry and also have some ideas of what to bring next time Alpacas are adorable and I love how they hum. We have several Alpaca farms around here.

With a name like hairy mosquito it has to be good, right? Black ink on the ledgers for your first show is indeed a good thing, we had a few "educational" shows at the beginning. My new neighbors are snowbirds out of MN, meeting them definitely makes me want to visit.

Heh. Earlier comment about "educational" shows made me chuckle. We also had those.
Glad you had a good experience at the Hairy Mosquito show. Hope they all get better from here... .

Thanks guys!
The Hairy Mosquito is a cool place, definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.
We are very happy to have made a profit. This was a large show and there was a lot of competition. Definitely put a pep in our step and we are excited to try another show. We both work long hours during the week so we can't commit every weekend but a few shows in the summer will be fun.

Soooo, I searched your photos for a hairy mosquito, or any mosquito! Figured the brown top layer of the surfite might be a resting mosquito. Good morning!
Congratulations on your first show.
An alpaca or two would be nice : )

An alpaca or two would be nice : ) Love the name "hairy mosquito". You would think some of our Canadian ones would have fur coats for the cold. The opposite is naked mosquito. We have lots of those. In WW2, my Dad flew the de Havilland Mosquito, which was 20 MPH faster than the Spitfire at 6000'. It was made of wood. Not only was it fast and dependable, it had quite the bite. All of our mineral shows are cancelled this year. Must be tough on the vendors. Hopefully, they will start up soon.

Sounds like you two did really well for your first time out. Profit is a big plus, but learning is important, too. Cute furry critters sounds adorable.
