We have a lot of fruit trees and even more pests (mostly squirrels) that waste the fruit. Sometimes we get a few. I've used old CD's, covered every piece of fruit, human hair, useless electronic sound repellant, and covered the trees with nets. Had discussion with friend Jose. He doesn't have such troubles with his fruit trees. He uses REPELS ALL. Bought some. Voila! No more troubles! We've removed the netting from two of the fruit trees, then sprayed REPELS ALL on the ground around the trees; not a squirrel in sight! Safe for humans and animals. It is the smell they are avoiding. Lasts for two months after it is dry. Sprinklers don't dilute it. Comes in spray or granules. We bought the spray because it is ready to use. It was about $15 for the spray. At Home Depot and Summerwinds Nursery. IMG_0941 by Pat6489, on Flickr Good luck!

I know somebody who sprays it around their gardens to keep the neighbour's cats out.

Thanks for posting this Pat! I was just talking with my brother-in-law this weekend about this problem as he has a garden to match Eden (not exaggerating!) and he's been using something a little more "personal" to try and keep the deer away. I just sent him a link to this stuff.

I saw that in a store recently, even took a pic for Elizabeth. The pocket gophers or whatever they are around here have been a problem, they dug up a bunch of cacti in our front yard as soon as we watered it. She surrounded one of our new moringa trees with pepper plants and tomatoes, seems the evil critters don't care for them. We have resisted the urge to put out blood thinner bait as we have great horned owls and feral cats who could be in danger, depending on who you ask.
Think I'll get some of that spray and set up my bucket trap just for fun.
